GSP 1620 Duplex Modem
The Globalstar Duplex Modem or GSP-1620 Satellite
Data Modem (SDM) delivers reliable digital data communications virtually
anywhere in the world using CDMA technology and the Globalstar constellation
of Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) satellites.
The Globalstar GSP-1620 SDM provides two-way business-to-business Internet
communications with land or marine based equipment via Direct Dial-Up or
Direct Internet access. The SDM can cost-effectively retrieve data from
isolated power substations, or remote metering facilities such as oil and gas
supply stations. Unmanned sensors connected to an SDM can monitor remote
operations and initiate alert notifications.
Designed for multiple applications, the GSP-1620 SDM offers a flexible
solution for the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), as well as providing
a developer's kit for accelerated time to market.
Advantages
|
- One solution instead of managing multiple wireless partner
relationships
- Extends connectivity to previously unserved areas
- Reduce operating and maintenance costs
- Increase efficiency
- View the status of your equipment and recorders without wasting
valuable personnel time
- Operate valves
- Static IP/VPN - Need a secure link that bypasses the internet? Need
to poll packet data remotely or track assets by IP address? Globalstar
Static IP/VPN service allocates static IP addresses to Globalstar
modems, and carries traffic over a secure link to the customer's end
office. This simplifies asset tracking and SCADA services for greater
control.
- Receive immediate notification when certain predetermined thresholds
are reached so you can make better business decisions and manage assets
and perishables more effectively

Features
|
- The Globalstar GSP-1620 SDM provides 9.6 Kbps data services using
the reliability of satellite communications via two methods:
- Direct Internet Access (#777) enables you to connect to the Internet
and web-based email systems*. Globalstar acts as the Internet Service
Provider (ISP) allowing you to browse web sites and send and receive
e-mails.
- Direct Dial-up Access allows you to connect to private networks,
which may not be accessible via the Internet, by simply dialing the
11-digit number you want to connect to. Direct Dial-up also allows
access to your existing ISP over their standard dial up access for web
browsing or access to your mail on their mail server.
- Data services are not available with the FAU-200. Currently, Direct
Internet Access is only available in Canada, United States, Caribbean,
Argentina and Brazil. Standard roaming rates apply.
